Your argument here is essentially that the media hasn’t told us about how the media isn’t telling us stuff, so we should shut up, trust the system we’re fighting, and just vote for Obama.

Propaganda and the ‘facts’ are hard to cull out when our leaders are remaining silent- yes, it has been a long time since we’ve heard any reasonable debates… Look at the republican party’s recent sad excuse for debates…news media is steeped in rhetoric to get you to follow their stories… Where is journalism? Why are the Occupy demands not being addressed by our municipalities or highest officials… Suspect behavior breeds distrust and speculation… Speculation I’d rather have than none…where do our leaders stand? Why is it ok to strike fiercely at a young woman with a baton at UCB? Why is the non-chalant, excessive use of pepper spray at UCD drawing fire? Why is the Occupy movement growing and meeting this backlash? Revolution in policy doesn’t come easy… Clearly, we are going to have to fight for it. We can fight over semantics or we can demand answers from our politicians who ate supposed to serve us, not the highest bidder… Fox news and Wolf’s assertions may lack clear facts… What else is new… What’s the real issue? Let’s beg the same transparency from our leaders…

Hmmm. I think it has been a long time since you have heard any kind of reasoned debate, much less of the high school class variety. Perhaps you are not the best judge of this? At least you can be confident and assertive, and maybe none of us will notice?

Congress is no MORE corrupt than the rest of us. They are a reflection of us.

Pity you can’t grasp the larger context. Your screed against her reads like a high school debate class. The fundamental fact is that Congress is totally corrupt and the two-party tyranny shuts out all of the other parties and disenfranchises at least a third of the voters. Heaven forbid you might actually want to live in a Republic.

Thanks–I read the piece in the Guardian and was appalled by its lack of logic, even more appalled that my family in the UK will see it and wonder what is going on over here. I was especially distressed to see the piece tweeted and posted with great enthusiasm by some of the Occupy groups.

There is so much at stake in the discussion about our economy and what needs to be changed–we don’t need article’s like Wolf’s taking us off track.

Thanks for bringing the discussion back to checked facts and away from conflation and supposition. I was reading Naomi Wolf’s Guardian article and was going “ok… maaaybe”, that is until I got to the “civil war” ending. Even if her article is proven true, broaching topics like “war” when even the PERF side has kept at least partially non-violent is a precondition for justification of violent acts taken on behalf of the Occupiers. I don’t think anyone wants to walk away from the negotiating table yet.
